New International Basketball League Team Seeking Players for Inaugural Season

The Jersey G-Force, which is New Jersey’s newest professional basketball team scheduled to tip off for the first time this April in the International Basketball League (IBL), has formally announced the dates of its open tryouts for the upcoming season of play. Slated for March 24-25th, the two-day trials will take place at the Monroe Tennis and Basketball Center, and online registration is currently available at

“We are mainly seeking players who have college level and/or professional basketball experience playing overseas,” team owner Tim Butts stated. “We will consider those who have played in D1, D2 or D3. Typically, we find that the guys coming out of mid-major to major college basketball programs have the most success at this level. However, we want to make it clear that we encourage any dedicated ball players to come and tryout who have the skills, heart and desire to play professionally.”

The host site of the tryouts is Monroe Sports Center, located at 4 Farrington Boulevard in Monroe, New Jersey. The cost of the workouts is $150, and participants must pre-register and pay online by Friday, March 23rd. On Saturday, March 24th, check-in will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., and the first day of trials will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The following day, the gym will be opened at 10:00 a.m., and the court activities will begin sharply from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Over the course of the tryouts, players will be timed as they undergo professional drills, defense rotations and pro sets. There were also be class room discussion in order to explain the various International Basketball League rules.

For players coming into New Jersey from out of town, two hotels will serve as the main hosting facilities for these trials. The first is Hampton Inn, located at 384 Monmouth Street in East Windsor, which is about three miles from the Monroe Tennis and Basketball Center. The room rate is $90 a night and can be reserved by calling Hampton Inn sales manager Resham Surati at 609-426-1600. The second hotel is the Holiday Inn at 399 Monmouth Street in East Windsor, approximately six miles from the gym. Rooms cost $134 a night and can be purchased in advance by calling 609-448-7000.
