Team Hits the Road for Busy Slate of Matches

The New Jersey Wildcats (0-0-2, 2 points) will be rather busy over the rest of the week, playing a total of three road matches in the next four days. The team gets started on that task tonight at 8:00 p.m. when it visits the North Jersey Valkyries (0-0-1, 1 point) before facing the Long Island Rough Riders on Thursday and concluding the road swing opposite the New Jersey Rangers on Saturday.

“We are fortunate that we have some players coming into the roster who will help us,” Wildcats head coach Jim Gabarra said of keeping players as fresh as possible for this busy slate of action. “No matter how you cut it up, three games in four days is going to create some fatigued players come Saturday. It is also three big games early in the year, and these could dictate how our season goes.”

Gabarra says part of the strategy over the next few days will be finding ways to rest players, but each match must be viewed as being the most important on the docket.

“We have to approach each game as they come, and, as the results unfold, we can figure out how to rest players and the spread the minutes out as best we can,” he commented. “That depends on depth at each position, and I think we are pretty much covered there, especially with the new players coming into the roster.”

Facing such a critical point on the schedule, the focus of the Wildcats will be to take each game one at a time while concentrating on the task at hand.

“We have to try and get three points in every match,” Gabarra concluded. “As the match unfolds and we find opportunities to rest some players, we will take advantage of that. We cannot sacrifice any one game for the next, though. We just have to manage as best we can and get all of the points we can possibly get.”

After this three-game road swing, the Wildcats will return home to TCNJ in Edison on Wednesday, June 6th, hosting the New Jersey Rangers. Tickets for all Wildcats home matches are also now available and can be attained by calling 732-720-9163.
