Bellator 74 Scheduled for Caesars

Bellator Fighting Championships has set up Atlantic City as a regular stop on its seasonal tours, and the promotion has officially announced that it will again return there in September. Bellator 74 is slated to take place on Friday, September 28th, and the host venue of the event will be Caesars.

“Caesars Atlantic City has become a second home to Bellator, so kicking off our seventh season in New Jersey was a very easy decision to make,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Atlantic City is a classic fight town and New Jersey is a hotbed for mixed martial arts, so our fans should expect another great night of fights.”

Bellator also confirmed it will kick off its next Welterweight Tournament that evening, with combatants battling for an eventual title crack at champion Ben Askren. One fighter who has been slotted for competition that night is former titleholder Lyman Good, the man Askren defeated for the crown back at Bellator 33 in 2010. Good last fought at Bellator 65 in Atlantic City, needing just 13 seconds to dismantle LeVon Maynard.

"Caesars has established a great partnership with Bellator Fighting Championships dating back to our inaugural event of Bellator 44 in May of 2011, and we're proud of the fact the MTV2 will broadcast the latest tournament live from our venue," stated Don Marrandino, Eastern Division President for Caesars Entertainment. "Bellator Fighting Championships has provided Caesars Atlantic City with six previous MMA exhibitions, but I can honestly say without hesitation that Bellator 74 on Friday, September 28th, will be our biggest."

The preliminary bouts of Bellator 74 will get underway that night at 7:00 p.m. and air live on The live action then switches to MTV2 and EPIX HD at 8:00 p.m.

Bellator is currently amid its condensed summer series and returns to action this Friday at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, and the show will feature the promotional debut of former UFC and Strikeforce welterweight contender Paul Daley.  Click here for Bellator commentator Sean Wheelock's breakdown of the summer season.
