WBA International Welterweight Champion Luis Collazo is coming off an impressive January 30th knockout win over Victor Ortiz at Barclays Center and has recently signed with top adviser Al Haymon. Now Collazo has his eyes set on some of the biggest fights in the sport and has not been shy about his desire to get in the ring with the best. One such name is former world champion Amir Khan.
"I definitely proved that I should be considered part of the top tier of the welterweight division when I beat Victor Ortiz," Collazo stated. "Another name that has been a part of that conversation for a long time is Amir Khan, and I know that a fight against him would be huge for both of us and huge for the fans. Khan wants a shot at Floyd Mayweather and so do I. It could be a sort of welterweight playoff that would get the boxing world talking. And mark my words, I will knock Khan out like I did against Ortiz."
Khan was hopeful of a May bout with Floyd Mayweather before the pound-for-pound king recently opted for Marcos Maidana as his next opponent. Mayweather took to social media in telling Khan that he would fight him should he accept the option and be able to defeat Adrien Broner on his May 3rd undercard. Khan took offense to the offer, although he did previously say that he would like to fight Broner, who was handed his first professional loss by Maidana in December.
