KiXX midfielder Ptah Myers has registered five points so far this season.
Philadelphia Taking on Milwaukee Wave at U.S. Cellular Arena this Saturday
Milwaukee, Wisc. (Friday, December 11, 2009) – Coming off an impressive 20-6 road victory over the previously unbeaten Rockford Rampage (2-1) last Friday night, the Philadelphia KiXX (1-2) are headed into U.S. Cellular Arena on Saturday evening to face the Milwaukee Wave (1-2). The match marks the fourth of six consecutive road games to start the season for the KiXX, who will open its home slate of games at the Liacouras Center on Saturday, January 9th.
“Milwaukee is a very good team, and we need to outwork them and be very disciplined defensively to be successful,” Philadelphia head coach Don D’Ambra stated. “Both teams are trying to build some consistency; therefore, this game is very important for both sides.”
After the offensive explosion this past Friday against Rockford in which the KiXX attack took a 14-0 advantage into halftime, D’Ambra has approached this week of training with a focus on building off the momentum that his team displayed in that contest.
“We were very disappointed by our performance in our first two games, and we knew that we were not playing to our potential,” he said of Philadelphia’s unlikely 0-2 start to the season. “This past weekend, we played the way we knew we were capable, so I'm confident that the team will build off the positives and energy of our last performance.”
One major positive that came as a result of the win is that the KiXX now have the top-ranked offense in the Major Indoor Soccer League, averaging 13.7 points per game. Forward Leo Gibson registered four goals against the Rampage, including a first half hat trick, and the Liberian striker was named the MISL Player of the Week as a result.
“I have a lot of confidence in this particular group of players,” D’Ambra continued. “They are willing to put in the work, and they all buy into the team concept. I feel that we are still capable of playing better on the offensive end, and I'm hopeful that we will continue to progress as the season goes on.”
The match-up with the Wave kicks off at 8:00 p.m. (EST) and will be webcasted live through B2 Networks. Philadelphia will play its historic first home game at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University on Saturday, January 9th, when they host Rockford at 7:00 p.m. Season and group ticket packages for the KiXX are available now by calling 1-888-888-KiXX.
