Two-Time MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Signs Deal

Morristown, N.J. (Tuesday, February 17, 2009) - GK1 Soccer officially announces today the signing of Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstad. The two-time Major League Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year is wearing GK1 Soccer apparel this season as he attempts to win a fourth MLS Cup as a starting netminder.

"I have always respected Pat, and we have always maintained a good relationship," GK1 Soccer co-founder and 2000 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Tony Meola commented. "He is a true professional in every sense of the word, and we couldn't be more pleased to have one of the true good guys of the sport wearing GK1."

Onstad has already been wearing GK1 Soccer apparel, and he has been very pleased with the products.

"The gloves are fantastic," Onstad said. "I've been wearing them since the start of preseason, and they are comfortable. The palm is very durable, and on a wet surface, the grip is excellent."

In addition to winning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year accolades on two occasions, Onstad has been a member of three MLS Cup championship teams, first with the San Jose Earthquakes (2003) and then twice with the Dynamo (2006, 2007).

"This is a small step to prove that GK1 Soccer is focused on being a staple within the soccer world," co-founder Tom Maoli stated. "We are very excited to have a player of the caliber of Pat Onstad with our company."

A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Onstad has recorded 55 caps for the Canadian National Team. He also backstopped his college team at the University of British Columbia to three CIAU National Championships.

"These are extremely exciting times for GK1 Soccer," co-founder Vance Kempin remarked. "One of our major focus points is to work with professional goalkeepers, and we are happy to get this opportunity to work with Pat."

GK1 Soccer executive Sal Rosamilia, a former All-America goalkeeper at Columbia University in New York, also expressed feelings of excitement.

"I have gotten the chance to know Pat a lot better through these negotiations, and I can truly say that he lives up to everything that is said of him," he declared. "He will be an excellent representative of GK1 Soccer."
