Philadelphia Looking for Third Straight Win
Philadelphia (Saturday, January 23, 2010) – Currently riding a two-match winning streak, the Philadelphia KiXX (3-5) now finds itself trailing the first place Rockford Rampage (5-4) by only 1.5 games. The KiXX have the opportunity to close that gap tonight when they host Rockford at the Liacouras Center, with kickoff slated for 7:05 p.m.
“The team has gained some confidence, and we are excited about having the opportunity to compete in the standings,” Philadelphia head coach Don D’Ambra stated. “We are now only 1.5 games out of first place, and a win tonight would put our team in a very good position.”
After the KiXX took a two-game sweep of a home-and-home series with the Rampage earlier this month, Rockford rebounded with back-to-back victories over the Milwaukee Wave (5-5) last weekend. Both clubs are now riding two-game winning streaks, and D’Ambra knows that momentum will be riding high for both sides heading into the match tonight.
“We are coming off a good weekend with two wins against Rockford, and it is always good to keep that positive momentum going,” D’Ambra said. “Now, Rockford is coming off a good weekend after beating Milwaukee twice, so tonight's game will be a challenge for us.”
When asked of what would be the focus of the team heading into this game, D’Ambra was quick and to the point.
“Team defense,” he said of the team initiative. “We will focus on containing Rockford’s explosive transition game and executing our offensive opportunities.”
Returning to the lineup tonight for D’Ambra and the KiXX will be playmaking striker Ptah Myers, who will be playing in his 150th career game and is just four points shy of reaching 150 career points. One other key milestone on the horizon is the 150th career regular season goal by Brazilian forward Adauto Neto, who currently has a team-leading 25 points.
Tickets for tonight’s match are still available by logging onto www.ComcastTix.com, and they are also available through the Liacouras Center box office all day. With kickoff slated for 7:05 p.m., doors will open tonight an hour prior to that at 6:05 p.m.
