Boston Breakers Come to Town for 7:00 p.m. Pairing

Somerset, N.J. (Friday, May 28, 2010) – After a league-wide bye week, Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) returns to action this weekend, with Sky Blue FC (3-2-1, 10 points) welcoming the Boston Breakers (1-2-3, 6 points) to Yurcak Field in Piscataway, New Jersey. This match will be the first meeting between these two teams this season, with the outcome of this game painting a much clearer picture in the WPS Standings.

“This is a great opportunity for us to establish ourselves at home, and we are up to the challenge that this game brings with it,” Sky Blue FC head coach Pauliina Miettinen stated. “I’m excited for tomorrow, to play at home once again and also against a great opponent in the Boston Breakers.”

With this match being the first game action for Sky Blue FC in two weeks, Miettinen says that the team has been very focused in training to make sure that nothing was lost during the time off.

“The good thing about the bye week is that you get some extra rest, but you always have the risk of losing your rhythm a little bit,” she said. “Both mentally and physically, the team has worked hard in its preparation this week, and I expect that to show in our play on Saturday.”

One of the main reasons for the large amount of productivity in Sky Blue FC’s training is the depth on the roster, which brings a strong level of competition to each practice session.

“There’s so much talent on this team, and that type of competition makes the training sessions much more intense,” Miettinen continued. “When the speed of play is faster and the technical level is so high, everybody becomes a better player on a daily basis. That’s a great scenario for any team.”

Tickets for Saturday’s match with the Breakers are available now, and fans can call 1-888-SBFC-TIX or visit for information on how to purchase tickets online. The Yurcak Field box office will also open on Saturday at noon to accommodate game day purchases.
