Nikki Stanton Assists on Game-Winner for Perth Glory in Win Over Melbourne Victory
Perth Glory advanced into a two-way split of third place on the Westfield W-League ladder this past weekend, defeating Melbourne Victory by a score of 2-0. In the match, Sky Blue FC midfielder Nikki Stanton assisted on a Rosie Sutton goal in the 16th minute, which ended up being the game-winner in the contest. Stanton started and played the full 90 minutes in the fixture, as did Perth captain and Sky Blue FC forward Sam Kerr.
With the win, Perth improves to 2-1-1 on the year for a total of seven points. They currently trail W-League front-runners Melbourne City FC and Sydney FC Women, which both sit atop the table with 12 points.
U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team Settles for Fourth Place in U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup
The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team gave inspired efforts but suffered consecutive defeats in its final two matches of the U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The U.S. side fell to Korea DPR in extra time in a semifinal match, 2-1, before ending the tournament with a 1-0 loss to Japan in the third place contest.
