West Windsor, N.J. (Wednesday, March 25, 2009) – The New Jersey Wildcats announced today that La Salle University products Kim Lisun and Michelle Verzi will suit up for the team this season. Both players are expected to make an impact when the Wildcats hit the field for their 14th consecutive season of play in the USL W-League this summer.

"I'm excited to see the progress the Wildcats continue to make,” General Manager Sam Areman stated. “The coaches and myself have worked hard to put together a competitive and successful team. I've watched the Wildcats continuously work hard and push each other, and I cannot wait to see what the upcoming season will bring."

Midfielder Kim Lisun played four seasons at La Salle, and her 13 career assists are seventh most all-time in school history. She finished her collegiate career with two particularly solid campaigns, leading her to All-Atlantic 10 honorable mention honors in 2006 and All-Atlantic 10 Second Team accolades her senior year of 2007. Before joining the Explorers, she was a four-year starter while playing at Deptford (NJ) High School and received an All-State nod following both her junior and senior seasons. She also reached the state finals while playing for the Medford Strikers Scream, and the Deptford native was a member of the New Jersey ODP Team in 1999, 2002 and 2003.

“Kim Lisun possesses great technical ability and is very comfortable on the ball,” Wildcats head coach Dave Barbour commented. “She is fitting in well with what we are expecting of our team, and I have been very pleased with what I have seen of her.”

After beginning her college career at Seton Hall University, defender Michelle Verzi transferred to La Salle University prior to the start of her sophomore year. Not only did the Delran native do well on the field for the Explorers, she also excelled in the classroom and was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll the entire time she spent at La Salle. She had her best campaign during her senior season, finishing fourth on the team with five assists. She was recognized for her senior accomplishments by receiving CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine All-District 2 Academic First Team, NSCAA All-East Academic Team and Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Team accolades. Prior to heading to the college ranks, Verzi was a four-year varsity letter winner at Delran High School and participated on the New Jersey ODP Team for five years. She also played alongside Lisun with the Medford Strikers Scream.

“Michelle has not only shown the ability to defend, but also an ability to get into the attack,” Barbour said. “She has been playing on point in training, and she seems to be getting better with every training session.”

After opening the 2009 season with four consecutive road contests, the Wildcats will make their home debut at Mercer County Community College on Sunday, June 7th, when they host the Boston Renegades at 4:00 p.m. Tickets for that opener are available now by calling 732-963-9769.
