Undefeated Junior Middleweight Defeated Eberto Medina on Wednesday
Unbeaten junior middleweight Delen “Sniper” Parsley (4-0, 2 KOs) looked impressive in a four-round unanimous decision victory over Eberto Medina (5-5, 1 KO) on Wednesday night, as part of DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing at BB Kings in New York City. Medina proved to be much more talented than his record initially showed, but Parsley countered with the ring savvy of a veteran fighter, despite having just four professional bouts under his belt.
“It was a learning experience. It was a good fight.” Parsley stated after the win. “He wasn’t a pushover. He was tough, so it was a rugged fight. It showed me a lot, and it brought a lot out of me, boxing-wise.”
With only four frames of action, it can be hard for a fighter to apply his game plan, but Parsley did a nice job of sticking to a technical attack and working his combinations when the opportunities arose.
“I thought I boxed well, but I could have done more,” Parsley continued. “I could have worked the body more, stayed on my jab more consistently, but I did what I had to do to get the job done. At the end of the day, I’m still undefeated, so that’s all that really counts.”
Parsley had a major supporter in his corner on Wednesday night who also knows a little something about being unbeaten - his cousin, Denis “Da Momma’s Boy” Douglin, who currently owns a perfect 11-0 record with seven knockouts.
“He did a good job,” Douglin said of his cousin’s performance. “He went in there and got the job done. I want to see him use his jab a little more, but we’re both growing still. He’s getting better and better, and I was impressed. I’m sure everyone who was watching was impressed.”
No question about it, this is an impressive duo of cousins who look to make a lasting impression on the sport of boxing for many years to come. And if anyone out there is concerned about them fighting in the same weight class, there is no need to worry. Parsley says he is planning to move up the middleweight division, while Douglin will likely test the waters as a welterweight.
