Heavyweight Showdown Slated for Prudential Center

The highly anticipated title defense by IBF International and NABO Heavyweight Champion Tomasz Adamek (42-1, 27 KOs) against Queens native Vinny Maddalone (33-6, 24 KOs) has finally arrived. The two heavyweight sluggers will meet on Thursday night at Prudential Center in the feature bout of a loaded card produced by Main Events, Star Boxing and Ziggy Promotions.

"I'm excited to be returning to the Prudential Center,” Adamek stated. “I have been training really hard with Roger, and I feel like I'm getting better and better and learning more every day. I know that Vinny and I are going to make a really great fight, and I invite everyone to come out and enjoy it with us this Thursday night."

This fight marks the fourth in what has been a busy year for Adamek, who scored decision wins in 2010 over Jason Estrada, Chris Arreola and most recently against Michael Grant in August. Usually at a distinct height disadvantage since stepping up to the heavyweight division, the Polish sensation stands about a half-inch taller than Maddalone.

"It's fitting that we have this fight on a Thursday night,” Main Events CEO Kathy Duva remarked. “We started out at Prudential Center on a Thursday two years ago with what many people called the fight of the year, Adamek-Cunningham."

As far as the action on Thursday is concerned, Duva expects sparks to fly.

"I know there's not going to be a person watching this fight that will be disappointed,” she predicted. “These are two fighters with great heart and determination."

Maddalone comes into this fight as an underdog, but he stresses that he will be no pushover for Adamek.

"I'm ready to go and really just looking forward to putting on a great show come Thursday night,” he commented. “I have put a lot of work in at the gym, approximately 14 weeks of training for this fight. As I always do, I am going to give everything I have and leave it all in the ring come fight night. Tomasz is a great champion, and I know that he is going to be coming ready to fight and ready to go to war. For everyone in attendance and for everyone else watching at home on TV, I promise you that you are going to see one heck of a fight."

Tickets for Adamek-Maddalone are still on sale, and they can be purchased by calling TicketMaster at 800-745-3000 or going to the Prudential Center box office.
