Team Adds Wide Receiver Preston Brown, Lineman Rich Bellina

The Trenton Steel of the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) announced two more player signings this week, with wide receiver Preston Brown and lineman Rich Bellina joining its roster. The duo will look to get things started for the expansion club when it opens its season on the road against the Richmond Raiders on March 19th.

A dominating force at 6-4 and 230 pounds, Brown has made stops in the training camp of both the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. The Camden native had great junior and senior campaigns at Tulane University after playing primarily as a gunner on the special teams unit during his first two college seasons. Over his final two years in New Orleans, Brown put up some impressive numbers for the Green Wave as he registered 91 receptions for 1,187 yards and eight touchdowns.

“Preston is a big target with huge play-making abilities,” Steel head coach Jeff Hoffman said of Brown. “He will be a great asset to our offense, and I’m excited to get him on the field.”

Bellina brings a solid presence to the trenches for the Steel, standing 6-4 and 250 pounds. The Montclair State product was an All-New Jersey Athletic Conference recipient as a tight end, and he was a Team Ironmen Award winner for the Red Hawks on two occasions. After concluding his college career, Bellina then moved onto the professional landscape and spent the past two seasons with New Jersey Revolution of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). Before his time with the Revolution, he played with the Peoria Pirates and Amarillo Dusters of arenafootball2 (af2), as well as the New Jersey Xtreme of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL).

“Rich brings a lot of versatility to the table since he has the ability to play multiply positions,” Hoffman remarked. “He is an indoor football veteran with obvious leadership skills.”

After kicking off the season in Richmond, the Steel will play its first-ever home contest when it hosts the Erie Explosion on March 26th at the Sun National Bank Center in Downtown Trenton. For more information on the team or to purchase tickets, visit or call 609-656-3300.
