The partnership evolved from a longstanding relationship with the Pali Blues, sister club of the Los Angeles Blues.
Blues Set for Debut Season in USL PRO
Resolution Sports announced on Tuesday that the company has reached a partnership with the Los Angeles Blues, a professional men’s soccer side that is preparing for its debut season in USL PRO. The relationship evolves from a three-year existing partnership with the two-time USL W-League Champion Pali Blues Soccer Club, which is the sister team of the men’s club.
“Speaking on behalf of Resolution Sports, I could not be any happier to have the company partnering with the Los Angeles Blues,” President John Archibald stated. “I have had the pleasure of working with head coach Charlie Naimo with the Pali Blues over the past three W-League seasons, and I am honored to have the opportunity to expand that relationship with the men’s team. The Blues brand and Charlie himself are synonymous with a championship level of soccer, and I expect nothing but the same as this new chapter with the organization begins.”
Over a three-year span, the Pali Blues have reached the W-League Playoffs each season, finishing unbeaten and winning a pair of championships in 2008 and 2009. The Blues have sent numerous players to Women’s Professional Soccer, including the past two MAC Hermann Trophy winners (Kelley O’Hara, 2009; Christen Press, 2010) and produced the number one overall pick in the WPS Draft (Tobin Heath, 2009; Alex Morgan, 2010). With such success on the women’s side, the Blues organization decided in 2010 to begin a men’s program and youth development system, completing a true soccer pyramid.
"We are excited to bring Resolution Sports on as a partner for the men’s pro team,” Naimo said. “The relationship with our women’s team has been fantastic over our first three seasons, and we are confident it will be no different on the men’s side."
The Los Angeles Blues held an official press conference to announce its entrance into USL PRO on December 14th, 2010. On that same day, the team revealed its first three players signings, adding goalkeeper Oscar Dautt, midfielder Cesar Rivera and Josh Tudela to the roster. The Blues will play in the International Division of USL PRO, and the team will play its inaugural match on the road against Sevilla FC Puerto Rico on Friday, April 15th. The Blues will host its historic first home game on Sunday, May 1st, kicking off against Antigua FC Barracuda at 5:00 p.m. PST at Titan Stadium on the campus of Cal State Fullerton.
