Newark, N.J. (Thursday, April 23, 2009) – The Newark Ironbound Express Soccer Club continues to build a high-powered roster in preparation for their sophomore campaign in the USL Premier Development League this summer, announcing today that Brazilian forward Tiguinho has committed to the team for the upcoming season. A two-year veteran of the New Jersey Ironmen, the Rio de Janeiro native brings a high level of speed and a knack for the goal to the Express.

After playing outdoor soccer in Brazil, Tiguinho was selected by the Ironmen in the 2007 MISL Supplemental Draft and signed as a Discovery Player. In 20 regular season matches during the 2007-08 season, he tallied 16 points on six goals and four assists. He also added eight blocks to his rookie campaign. He followed that up with an even better year this past winter with the indoor side, registering 27 points on a pair of triples, 10 two-pointers and an assist. He also contributed on the defensive end with 12 blocks in 19 games. He finished this past XSL season with the hottest foot on the team, netting nine points on four knocks in the final weekend of the year.
