Unbeaten Super Middleweight Inks Long-Term Deal
Star Boxing has confirmed the addition of undefeated super middleweight Jason Escalera (10-0, 9 KOs), who is now part of its promotional roster. The New Jersey native has signed an exclusive long-term deal with Star Boxing, in a move that comes after the New Jersey native knocked out Cleoney Fuqua this past October on an Atlantic City card by the promotion.
"Jason is exactly the type of fighter we want to have fighting on Star Boxing shows," DeGuardia remarked. "He is exciting, he always comes to fight, and he has concussive knockout power in both hands. We had Jason on one of our shows in Atlantic City last summer, and we were very impressed. We are looking to start building his name and further building his growing fan base throughout not only New Jersey, but New York as well. I strongly believe Jason has all the tools to one day rule the super middleweight division, and we are excited to be adding him to our stable."
A winner of the 2007 New Jersey Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight Championship, Escalera turned professional in February of 2008 and scored a first round TKO over Jeff Gross in his debut performance. For his career, he has registered nine knockouts in 10 fights, and the 26-year-old orthodox puncher is now expected to make his return to the ring sometime in the coming months on an upcoming Atlantic City show being produced by Star Boxing.
While the terms of the deal with Star Boxing were not revealed, Escalera is certainly expected to compete under its banner for the foreseeable future.
