Team Hosts Atlanta Beat on Saturday Night at Yurcak Field

After three consecutive road matches, Sky Blue FC (0-3-1, 1 point) will finally return home to Yurcak Field on Saturday night to host the Atlanta Beat (1-4-1, 4 points) at 7:00 p.m. The team will be looking to end a three-game skid, also focused on avenging a 1-0 road defeat to Atlanta that occurred earlier this season.

“I think it is critical for us to get a result at home,” Sky Blue FC head coach Jim Gabarra stated. “Four of our next five games are at home, so it is important for us to start building something and get in the habit of getting results. We were confident when we went into Atlanta the first time we played and created a lot of chances, but we did not make the most of our opportunities and made a costly mistake. We enter this game knowing that we must do whatever it takes to get the three points.”

An April 10th season opener was the last time that Sky Blue FC played at Yurcak Field, racing to a 2-0 halftime advantage over the Philadelphia Independence before the club from the City of Brotherly Love eventually leveled the count, 2-2, with a 90th minute tally.

“It is nice to finally have another home game and to get out of the choppy schedule where we had a home opener, then a bye week, three on the road and then another bye week,” Gabarra continued. We have had a good couple of weeks of training, and we are looking forward to another competitive game.”

Assistant coach Rick Stainton also said that the team is anxious to get the action underway on Saturday night.

“Atlanta is going to present a good challenge for us,” he remarked. “When we last played them, we played very well but were just unfortunate. We have really emphasized the importance of this game, knowing we must get the three points. We can achieve that by going at them, applying pressure and scoring some goals. We have to press them to create turnovers while we set up a good attacking game.”

Tickets for tonight’s match-up can be purchased at the Yurcak Field box office, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
